BYLC DELIVER TALKS AT COUNDON COURT
Because Your Life Counts Trustees had the pleasure of visiting Coundon Court Secondary School in Coventry to deliver education sessions to over 100 pupils.
Impacting Students Early.
BYLC have a focus on educating the youth, and that is exactly what we did. Across our four days at Coundon Court School, we were able to engage with over 100 students and really detail the impacts of careless and inconsiderate driving.
With short focus groups created, we introduced students to our ‘beer goggles’ and set them off on short tasks such as stacking cups to see how difficult it was to do with impaired vision. This acted as a reminder to students of the dangers of driving while under the influence while allowing the students to have an enjoyable time and to remember the message we were trying to portray. We also showed the student distraction videos to demonstrate the dangers of distracted driving.
Students were given a short road safety presentation, with a particular focus on the Fatal Five, something the charity hope to educate not just the students on, but the whole City of Coventry.
“The content was relevant and good. They students really liked the interactive part of the workshop. They were engaged and interested throughout the sessions. Your delivery was very good, a mixture of discussing powerpoints and getting their feedback. The video clips were very supportive of the message being put across and particularly the video footage of officers coming across people who were drunk. Something the fire service did which was quite powerful was do a role play scenario when the person that came in to present got students to come up and act out what they would do if they were in a car with someone and were uncomfortable with their driving. Also the interactive VR headsets are really engaging, which we spoke about. Overall the sessions were really good and we were really grateful for you coming in.
We would certainly like to work with BYLC in the future, we will certainly have a think if there is anything else that would be helpful. Please also get in touch with us if there is anything you collaborate on that you think will be useful.
Thank you very much for coming in.”
